Every sheet is a multiple original. In the case of the red version, the banana on each sheet is hand-drawn by me; in the dark version, it is the jet of flame that shoots out of the rear of the car. Each sheet is unique and part of these consistent editions, limited to a number of only 34 (dark) or 17 (red) pieces. Printed on Edition Duerer® high quality textured drawing paper. Exactly the very paper I use for drawing.

About the work:
With this work I returned to one of my favorite works. The 'FAT 313'. A "fusion satire" or parody and at the same time homage to Donald Duck himself, his no less famous '313', the artists Maurizio Cattelan, Erwin Wurm, Manfred Deix and last but not least, duck father Carl Barks. In my original work (from 2020/2021), I had taped Donald Duck Cattelan's famous banana to the cap and the FAT 313, based on Erwin Wurm's fat car, simply stood fat and silent on its wheels.
Here, in this reboot of the parody, things have literally started moving, I wanted to see the FAT 313 drive. Among other things, the radiator grille now resembles a turbine engine and the banana sticks to the outside wall of the chassis to increase the value of the vehicle. Hence the title 'The Six Million Dollar Car' (6MDC).

The Dark Matter Version of the 6MDC: I followed the idea of trying to create my own alter ego version of Donald Duck. Which then led to Donald Dark. The difference to Donald's other alter egos is that he is not aware of this when he changes into the Donald Dark character. Similar to Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde'. And what better way to illustrate the transformation than to extend it to the 313.

100th Anniversary: The New Yorker

The New Yorker celebrated its 100th birthday on February 17th. And with it the magazine's own iconic fictional character Eustace Tilley, drawn by Rea Irvin. This drawing is one of many attempts by me to portray this character, or rather, to cite certain elements of him, in my own very own way. I wasn't quite finished with this drawing, but I just left it unfinished, on purpose. I like the scratchy nature of it. Anyway, New York cartoonist Jason Chatfield wrote a wonderful article the day before yesterday about the anniversary of this unique magazine. The Strange Case of Donald Duck and Donald Dark

The undisputed superhero of my childhood was Donald Duck's alter ego Phantomias (that's what he's called in German-speaking countries), Paperinik in Italy (where he was invented), Duck Avenger in the USA, Superduck in the UK, etc. The gadgets, the super suit, the flying 313, the jump boots, the secret elevator in the wardrobe; I can still feel the enthusiasm I had for him as a child - I might have been six or seven at the time - for him today.

The best thing was that around 2010 I was even allowed to put my hand to this wonderful character for Disney.

A question of practice and joy

If you want to be able to draw cartoon ducks reasonably well on a professional scale, you might do well to draw a lot of ducks just for fun every now and then. For me it is always a new lesson. A lesson that is enjoyable, but it remains a lesson.

I just realized that I am the very first international artist to design/draw a Disney Topolino magazine cover. I thought I was the first Austrian, but to be the first worldwide is surprising.

What makes it special for me personally is that there is no shortage of world-class Disney artists in Italy - they don't really need anyone to "help" them. Seriously, Italian artists in particular have always given the Disney comic books universe a unique dynamism and elegance in line, design and stories.
